Post subject:  NETC Station in Dominica, Windward Islands

About a week ago, I started a private radiation monitoring station under NETC in the Commonwealth of Dominica, Windward Islands. It seems this new station is the only NETC site reporting in the entire Caribbean.

In other posts, I note some dismay that news media most often fail to report radiation alerts. Suggestion: write and disseminate a press release, folks. Be sure to add some simple image -- the media always like to show a picture, say, of a cropped NETC map or whatever. Include your email address in the press release.

I issued a press release which was reported in several places, including perhaps the major online news site for Dominica:

http://dominicanewsonline.com/news/homepage/news/general/new-nuclear-radiation-monitoring-station-in-dominica/

Results: Some 17 comments on the story and email received from persons interested in radiation in the environment. Look forward to meeting them soon.

Note: For at least 2 decades, Caribbean nations (CARICOM) have protested transport of nuclear waste by sea in their area. Question: over all this time, has there been dumping of nuclear waste in the Caribbean? And if yes, when might the containers start to leak below water?

Oh, did I forget to say that an old decrepit ship carrying some 25 tons of nuclear waste just left France a few days ago bound for Australia. Via the Caribbean?

Your efforts are very much appreciated by everyone who cares enough about the worlds current radiation situation to listen. World history of nuclear accidents have shown that the media & governments cover-up these accidents from the public as long as possible. We should expect nothing less than that in the future.

If I could suggest something to you... If you add a link to your station in your signature so after every post, people can easily click on it (like mine) to view your stations data. This is not required, it is just a suggestion that makes it quick & easy for other users.

I just looked over your press release again and it is very nicely setup.

I also like your area for comments below it. I notice that your geiger counter listed is this: http://seintl.com/radiationalert/monitor_4.html

This is interesting to know, because while the NETC software was confirmed to work with the InspectorEXP S.E. International Inc. geiger counter, obviously we do not own all of them and therefore couldn't confirm testing on all.

Thank you again for your updates and continued dedication to radiation monitoring.

Wonderful. We are sailing to Dominca..sadly my two monitoring stations, one died in a boat capsize off S. America..and the other is sailing with a second vessel around the world..they are in Indonesia now and send updates via xls sheets. The captize was NOT our vessel..but she ,donna lange, captured data from Rhode Ilsand all thru the southern oceans until the accident. We will visit you in Dominica on Feb 14-19 for the Yachtie Appreciation week. Our vessel is Growltiger, and we will be helping PAYS in Portsmouth.

Took 6 months just to get electricity back. Still waiting for internet (soon?) via landline and I'll be back up with my netc radiation inputs! Cheers, Jim
