Ill be taking my station down today for deep cleaning and filter change. I also bought a new Geiger counter so I want to test them both together with my test sample.

Station back up and now its clean!

I think I may have figured out what was causing my random disconnects. I could be wrong but guess we will see.

I got the same unit as the one on my station, GMC-300E.

I haven't. Now that I have a second Geiger counter I can start testing stuff.

I'm not very trusting of testing gutter runoff. Many shingles have stones in them which wash off. Many stones carry different levels of natural radiation. I suggest using a picnic table or something outside 24/4 and wipe it down clean with a damp paper towel and test that. Then daily or weekly wipe it down again and record your readings. Of course I'm assuming the material the picnic table was made of is not radioactive. Your trying to collect anything that falls from the sky that is radioactive.

Please be sure to test the damp paper towel before doing you swipe test. The water you use to damp the paper towel and or the paper towel itself could be radioactive. There has already been a report on this forum from a user who said he found radioactive paper towels. We live in a radioactive contamination world and things are only going to get worse.

I have many pine trees on my property, dropping yellow dust....I think if you burn some of the pine droppings and test that it would be intersting.

I have heard from the owner of NETC (Harlan/"hey") that down south where he lives, he has noticed higher than normal readings when the yellow dust is present. I believe that is pollen. Pollen is known to transport radiation contamination and so does smoke. I wouldn't suggest burning the pine cones and if so, don't be near the smoke. Much of the radiation will likely get away in the smoke.

During the Canada fires last Summer many EPA stations in the U.S. detected elevated radiation levels. Some states even issued bad air warnings which I seen on the U.S. governments AirNow.gov site. Of course radiation was never mentioned. It makes sense that radiation fallout from Fukushima that landed in Canada after the 3/11 accident was spread again after the fires in Canada.
