Not sure what was going on, but I have two GMC300s and they were not reading anywhere close to each other when the alarm went off. As a result, I swapped out the units with the PI and we'll see what happens here after the other unit collects some data from the filter.

They were both running at the same time and one showed a spike while the other stayed normal? Were they both near the same spot & setup in the same way? For example, both inside or both outside?

not quite. The alarm went off on the outside w/filter one connected to PI/NETC which triggered alarm. The other is same model but not connected to any PI or filter. I put it next to the outside unit and while the filter combo was registering abnormally high readings, my other 300E was in the 20's. I swapped the two units around and we will see what happens.

I just looked at the graph and the peak, while it is higher than normal, under the right conditions it does look like it could be real. It had a slow climb and fall.

What were the weather conditions like then?

At what time did you swap out the Pi and or geiger counter.

In the future, I want to point out to everyone that often our first reaction is to swap out geiger counters (if available) or to reset the unit. This is not what I would suggest to do first. If you have a 2nd geiger counter try to get that geiger counter as close to the unit reading high and compare. The only true way to rule out a false readings due to communication errors between NETC software and the geiger counter in question is to remove it from NETC. The problem is that if it really is a real reading, you would have not screwed up the graph that was being built. If you do not have a 2nd geiger counter to verify the readings, it often is best to do nothing with the unit other than watch it and come on the forum to report your problem/concern. Often in order to confirm if the unit is communicating correctly to NETC our network programmer needs to review the data while your geiger counter is still connected.

Were you able to hold your second unit up as close to the air purifier unit and get any rise in the readings?

I have done this with mine before and while I clearly do not get the same exact readings, I have seen a rise when doing this which does confirm the higher readings to me.

its sunny, clear and cold. I am not far from where you are. Probably around 8:20 is when I swapped them out. When the primary unit was reading over 100 I had the second unit sitting within inches of it. It was in the 20's and sat there about 15 minutes. Second unit didn't get out of 20's. Do you want me to swap them back at this point?

:!: Hang on, let me look at my graph and your graph first.

I see on the graph that at 8:20 when you changed geiger counters, the count/graph was already on its way down. I really do believe looking at it that it seems to be a real reading, I really wish you had not swapped out the units. Did you notice before you swapped out the unit if the actual display screen on the unit was reading high too and matched what your NETC graph was showing?

My chart does not have anything that stands out, but even though you and I are not far away from each other... the Illinois nuclear plants often blow your way not North/mine.

I want to also point out that the current jet stream is more by you than me.

yes, it all matched up. Ok, I won't swap them out next time and wait for instruction further. Just seemed odd that one unit reads very high and the other is well within usual readings and they are sitting right next to each other. Good info on the jet stream. thx.
