Quote:
A pair of drones operated by Greenpeace activists flew straight into the Electricity de France’s (EDF) nuclear power plant located in Bugey, near Lyon.

French police reportedly managed to intercept one of the drones while the other, adorned with a miniature Superman costume, crashed into a spent fuel storage facility.

Here is a CNN video that shows in depth about the remote control device "SUPERMAN" that I believe was used to fly in to the nuclear plants spent fuel building.

Forbes magazine has a recent article titled "If Nuclear Plants Are So Vulnerable To Terrorist Attack, Why Don't Terrorists Attack Them?" in an attempt to play down the actual vulnerability. Let me point out some things in their article.

Quote:
The pools he’s referring to are what the used fuel rods are temporarily cooled in before being recycled.

When they say temporarily, they do not mention that the fuel rods have to stay in the pool for 5-7 years before they are cool enough to safely be exposed to air. I hardly consider this temporary!

 The same article mentioned above talks about how there is no threat of a 9/11 type attack on nuclear plants. It is worth mentioning that while the actual reactors likely can withstand a 9/11 type attack because of the thick concrete, but the spent fuel pool building can not. The spent fuel rods building often has the most fuel rods at any given time on most nuclear plant sites.
