Palo Verde is a large NPP, 3 units, with 3 cooling towers each. It is close to 4000mw, so it will put out a lot of steam off the cooling, it would look massive I would think, more so when it is cooler outside.

Don't really know if it's normal or a event...

...Did you take any photos or video of the cloud?

A couple of things we do know:

1) Refueling takes place every 18 months and these are PWR's (pressurized water reactors) so the ADV's would be opened for this.

The ADVs (atmospheric dump valves) are on the metal pipes carrying steam from the steam generators to the turbine. After a shut down, the turbine no longer accepts the steam, so the ADVs allow the non-radioactive steam to be discharged to the atmosphere to protect the pipes from failure caused by excessively high pressure.

This steam is not radioactive...

2) Not only is the Palo Verde NPP the largest in the country it has no meaningful natural water supply and relies primarily on recycled waste water from Phoenix as it's cooling resource.

So I would expect to see a real response if something is (even) suspected to be a problem with the water reserve.

No evidence of unusual traffic during that time period so I'm guessing they were refueling or preparing to refuel at the time you saw the cloud.

Here's some general details of the plant itself...

Details on refueling:

Hope this helps to ease your mind...

...If you have photos or video let me know.

Very glad your helping with this, I need a way to contact Tom at anti-proton .com - is it aol, yahoo, gmail or what ? Anxious to get on with testing wood ash. The above site I looked at of Palo Verde station showed a interesting point. Details on refueling, scroll down to Topical issues on infrastructure development. Under, operation challenges for the station it said- "Even at below detectable radioactive limits ponds become radioactive during the life of the station which requires radiological control ". It was clean of radiation for a period of time but probably not any longer . They had a large release into the atmosphere 1 or 2 hours before the start of Superbowl Phoenix , I was there , and there was a large influx of people for the game also.

Yepper... it poisons everything around it...

...we all know this!

The gamma (worlds smallest razor) alone is staggering...

But ya gotta figure steam is not a bad thing in that area as the environment is so dry that particles float around free allot. May have been intentional but if there were no rads in the steam it may be a good thing for the area..

Happened at about the perfect refueling time on power usage in that area of the country as well...

Not knowing one way or another...

...totally against any more of these things!

They gave the press a "walk through" @ palo...

As far as testing goes...

...do you have the ashes bagged up for each stove cleaning (1/2 cup) and dated?

Plastic freezer bags (with the white box on em) with sharpie pen dates?

Include a paper with a short explanation of the origin of the wood as well...

...somebody will want to test these samples!!!

Hope so...

Here's a update on palo...

I'd figure some VIP's were at the game (SuperBowl) so it seems to be a blanket of protection in this case as the dust can't get through the water vapor...

...looks like they used it to clean the air.

Check this one out on humidity:

https://www.netc.com/bb/viewtopic.php?f ... mple#p6718

...in this case it would be a HUGE (biggest imaginable locally) humidifier!

Kinda makes you wonder how the air is the rest of the year in AZ!

I've seen the dust storms over times past and the rad reads they produce.

Watch http://netc.com to know for sure...

A interesting point on my 2 cords of wood that I've burned in my wood burner this winter, and that is that it's stacked at one end of a sun room which always has a constant supply of spiders to get rid of. On the wood pile there hasn't been one spider all winter, and that's the most likely place for them. Seems they don't like the radiation, it's the only explanation . My ashes still at 300 to 400 cpm .

In 2011 and 2012 I lost all my clover, most bugs, birds, bees and many flowering plants.

As I'm in NC we had a lot of rain in early 2012. Thought it was time to start building that arc ya know? It's a true reality to know that my 4 leaf clovers today came from Fuku. Feelin lucky?, me neither...

I love my spiders (GOD's bug light) but they have been hit hard as well... Got on the cleaning girl the other day for killing the few I still have today...

The birds are back and the squirrels (not to mention the GM reads) are looking better now but we all know the problem. No fuel left in the Fuku reactors and several fuel pool fires.... Documented fact! MAJOR RELEASES...

Move the wood as far away from the living area as possible...

The Orkin man has nothing on this stuff...

Here's the latest...

Good to hear from you!

I removed cold ashes that had been building up since I started burning in October, from my Canadian made Blaze King. I put them in a 5 gal. bucket, then got the idea to use my Inspector GC , I held it above the ashes about 1 inch, and I watched the CPM count climb up and up to 230 CPM, and I was ready to Dump them on my fruit trees, what a mistake that would have been. I think I"ll take them to the local fire department and they can dispose of the Radioactive waste. The wood I burned was Oak and Myrtle, just 1 cord . Be careful of your ashes !

First link that came up when I googled ' radioactive wood ash'

http://www.nobiomassburning.org/wp-cont ... e-1992.pdf

I used to put wood ash in the garden, but stopped when I learned that hardwood was too alkaline for our soil. I'm glad I put it out with the trash now. A few months ago I purchased a SE Monitor 4EC. It's not nearly as sensitive as the Inspector, and I didn't get an increase in cpm when testing my wood ash. I'll need to hook it to a computer and record over a longer period to see if I get anything above average background. The trees I'm burning are Ash and not more than 40 yo.. I wonder if there might be more contamination if I had trees that grew during the above ground weapons test.

In two words....

...Yepper and noper.

Some plants have the potential to absorb radiation more than others.

Mushrooms and truffles are potassium loving plants that are around 80% water. These plants tend to concentrate cesium from nuclear accidents as their makeup permits the long term storage of these elements and these poisons will readily recycle back into in the beds where they grow for centuries...

Rice is another example as rice will readily take up lead, mercury and other heavy metals.

But many plants reject most (if not all) poisonous metals (in general) that are contained in all soils.

Apple trees are the best example of this as shown in the test video below.

Some foods have a astounding resistance to heavy metals and therefore little to no radiation in the fruit / vegetable / wood even in the most extreme circumstances...

If the plant doesn't need the minerals these poisons mimic, you won't see much or in some cases NO nuclear radiation in them.

You (and all of us too) should research plants that reject heavy metals and therefore most all radioactive substances and start to plant them (if you don't already have em in your garden). This is the diet of the future and will determine the survival of mankind as a whole. Not to mention the quality of a disease free life!

Watch the test video below:

I'll try to post some more info on this topic as time allows.

Let me know if I can help further...
