Anyone familiar with scintillation counters know that accurate testing takes a long time. This includes repeated calibration of the equipment prior to testing. Then the size needs to be large enough for detection. There is much room for error too. Samples must be tested and then left to decay over time and retesting to compare. While the results can be very useful, it does not help with protection through early detection. It is this reason that I choose to assume every rise in detection is a serious concern for my family and immediately take action to avoid contamination.

Don't worry about "jumping in there" KC, you'll be surprised at what other things you find along the way...

I am no expert but the research I have done has been done using information from experts. The "experts" can not agree on safe levels of radiation and many other things related to radiation. I know someone who uses scintillation counters and has found & pointed out errors in a popular YouTube radiation chaser. After seeing repeated math & procedure errors that always seem to make the test samples test low, I am not very trusting of independent test by people I do not know.

I have an expert that I trust 100% and can mail anything to this person for testing, free of charge. There is always debate/lies about radiation and the argument/debate has no winners when shills are involved. Everyone needs to find someone they can trust for this testing. Comparing real-time station readings on NETC (along with the weather radar) I can easily see what stations I can trust and which stations I can't.

Shills? Not me or any that I work with... We use our own time and money to find these things and delicate our efforts to our children, grandchildren and great grand children...

I am not saying you! I am simply explaining why everyone needs to find someone they trust for testing samples. Furthermore, why I nolonger debate with people about radiation.

There are people that do not trust NETC. While I might question the accuracy of one station over another, NETC is real and offers a real service to the public. Much of that service is free. It will make me sad if the day comes that the owner Harlan decides to stop funding NETC. Without his monthly funding, NETC would be offline/dead. The recent creation of a donate button on the mainpage should be a wake-up call to people. If others that use this service are not interested enough to support it, why should he?

It makes me angry that a tech pod cast show I listen to has listeners that donate $1 each monthly. That pod cast gets $14,000+ a month and yet NETC bandwidth & server costs are mostly covered by its owner, Harlan.

http://netc.com is absolutely my favorite site for this information and I say this because of the very quick and understandable data!

This site ( http://netc.com ), bar none, is the best for quick, easy to understand readings AND chart (historical data) information...

No "shillin" there, ti's the truth!!!
