WoW "not good" reads from this station (4-4-2015)...

Thinking water washing down the mountains (and/or gasses) seeping into the basement...

...if water is the cause it's a VERY high reading.

Lots of spikes here (this week) so it's hard to tell.

Probably allot of radon but i wouldn't rule out 137 or worse...

Is the heater (boiler maybe?) down there?

A obvious prob...

...should be studied further!

Need more info from this operator ASAP...

Here's the chart (only available to members):

I question these readings being so high like that, but other stations are showing a rise around the same time.

Yea but these are spikes at times...

... If what I get from the station description is right,

May even be a (water) well gassing off into the building...

Blurp... and a little while later... Blurp again... If it's well gas (from a water well) it's probably coming from a couple of hundred feet below the basement floor...

...something to think about.

http://netc.com/chart/view.php?n=1%3AEB59F343 Oak Harbor
I've been curious wondering if this is a reliable monitor as far as it's history. I don't see any other readings on NETC (within wind direction dispersion, known nuclear facilities or military bases nearby) that would correlate with the spikes. My son actually suggested a possible *not for public news* military experiment or exercise or sub near it.

I can always tell if any of my own Geiger count increases are from Fukushima via jet stream and weather patterns. Mine haven't really increased, and don't go along with Oak Harbor increases potentially making it over the Cascade Mt range. BTW my PRM9000 average stays about .11 or .12uSv/h, spikes after rains popping up to .25

I lurk often here but first time I've had a question. Thanks in advance. Great site. 8-)

Wow a really crazy looking "roller coaster" chart...

...I'd guess (purely a guess) it has to do with sunlight hitting the unit itself.

...Most likely Cosmic Rads as we have had solar activity (lately) as well...

Looking at the times it spikes it makes since. There is no description for the location and unit type so we simply can't tell anything (for sure) other than it's a strange read.

Also, you can see some down time late last month and again April 1st...

A good possibility it was moved to a different location in the home (or the yard).

Also notice there is no lingering rise in count. You would expect to see a real increase in averages from deposition of materials if this were a real reading.
Average is 15 and that is good for a GM like the 300.

The sub theory is not plausible or almost anyone would be able to find em...
...The shielding is so good on a modern sub you couldn't find one (if it was) in your backyard pond using a GM counter (the surrounding water helps shield too).

Anybody know the operator of this one?

It would be nice if someone would contact him/her.

I guess someone needs to start a new thread (I'll start one) entitled "Strange Readings" or something like that...

Good one Teri...

...welcome to the forum.

We need to research other stations data to compare and why this station went from a previous regular level to this now.

Not sure why it spikes everyday around 10-11 AM only on East side of the house. Originally thought it was from Fukashima because it spiked during snowfalls or rain but now there is no precipitation to cause it. It was in sunlight, so have moved the unit in the shade (11:15 AM). It has stopped chirping so maybe the sun is the source.

Yea!!! I got the sun thing from your reads. Gotta keep it in the shade at all times for accuracy.

Glad to hear a confirmation from you on that...

What counter are you running?

Click on "user control panel"...

... and then "click on" profile and place the description in the Comments/Interests: box...

...mine says "GMC-200 Inside 2 inches from floor" keep it short and list any other details in the forums or your popup box will be too big...

Great to hear from you...

Happy Easter

Thank you all! I started out cruising this site and found much valuable info when I was first deciding to actually purchase a GC and learn about readings. I'm not connected with software to NETC since I carry my devices all over the place and at times loan out the smaller GMC tube type. (I couldn't decide so ended up buying 2...my most smartest proactive decision I made last year, lol.) Oh and just recently got hi-speed internet too.

Much to do and keep learning and pass on to who ever will listen. ;) Again thanks and good health to all.

Thanks Teri...

..GREAT to see people are interested in this stuff.

Getting that unit out of the sun helps us all (and the unit too)!

Sweeet...

Please "chime in" any time...

...great catch!
