I own many of these GMC-200 low cost geiger counters along with my very expensive (InspectorEXP & Mazur 9000) geiger counters. For daily background radiation station monitoring, I prefer the GMC-200. In fact, I have had one outside running in a ziplock sandwich bag for the past two years with no problems. You can use the free software from NETC and with a GMC-200, you too can have a radiation monitoring station of your own.

GMC-200 Manufacture website:

Download Free NETC Windows PC Software:
http://www.netc.com/software/

Please remember, if you appreciate the information from NETC with all of its helpful and dedicated members, please give any amount (donate button found on netc main page) to cover the continued bandwidth to keep this site alive.

Yea KC...

...I love my 200/Pi combo (purchased from netc)! Works great and has provided a steady stream of data (problem free) since deployment in Feb. 2014. This combo has been a blessing to all involved and provides easily readable data 24/7 (internet and power outage probs aside).

Dependable and worry free (unlike most things in life) to operate!

Came preloaded with the software. All I had to do was plug it in and allow the wireless signal to my router.

If you have a chart membership check out my records by selecting the full history (2 years) below...

...solid and consistent data without problems.

Best of the best for overall 24/7 environmental monitoring!!!!

I am well aware of the Raspberry Pi running the custom NETC software, I own several of them. My outside monitoring station has been running off the Raspberry Pi mostly trouble free for almost two years. I didn't mention it because demand dropped so low for them that Harlan stopped selling them. In fact, the custom NETC Raspberry Pi software has not been tested on the new Raspberry Pi 2 model. Since NETC has lost so much funding and has lost its programmer, the custom software will need to always be ran on the older/orginal Raspberry Pi model and they would need to buy that from somewhere else on the internet, not NETC. Anyone who wishes to purchase a licensed & registered copy of the custom NETC software that we are talking about (should you have the original Raspberry Pi to use it with) may or may not have their requested accepted. Those interested would need to email Harlan@NETC.com

These are the best "rigs" I've seen for this job (steady background monitoring).

I know that you use them as do I and many netc stations.

I thought I would mention the Pi/200 combo in a effort to bring awareness to this tested and dependable way to hook to the site and monitor the environment.

I'm hoping maybe we can get the interest needed to bring this package back into production.

And price it so that it helps support this very important effort!!!

I hope I'm not going in a direction that is not plausible by saying we need more of these Pi/200 combos.

I simply think it is an excellent way to support both the public monitoring effort and the netc site...

I am interested in purchasing another Pi/200 unit (3 actually) so get back to me if you have any extra Pi/200's you would like to sell...

I do not want to sell any that I already own, Harlan might still sell people a SD card with the custom software to use on NETC. If you want the Raspberry Pi, you would need to order that from somewhere on the internet yourself. Harlan might even post herein the list of what you would need to order. I personally don't recommend using the wifi connection with the Raspberry Pi. I tried before and it never worked are reliable as just an direct wired connection.

For What It's Worth. I've had my Raspberry Pi running outdoors on WiFi 100% of the time, it's been stable and reliable with a cheapo $9 usb WiFi dongle for just over 2 years now. Your Mileage May Vary

I do hope Harlan still offers the SD card custom software for the original Pi.
