 The Portland Maine EPA gamma station just recently hit a 7 year gamma high.

I noticed the situation in Portland Maine over the weekend - any word on the source of the elevated rad levels?

I have not, but I see much of the U.S. has been elevated recently too. I'm not sure if these new ones are related or not. I guess we just have to sit back and wait to put the puzzle together later.

From what I have seen, no.

I'm just gonna admit my problem with identifying the YEAR of this thread and will humbly retreat.

As of today, I still have not heard about or found in research anything that I can point to as a source for the previously spoken elevated reading on that station. I do trust that the EPA stations reading is correct though.

I have also noticed this over the past week or so as well, even other stations here in the NorthEast region have been showing higher levels now and then, even mine popped at a few times. Our water tables underground are really, really low at this time and have been for some time now, don't now if this has anything to do with the outside where my detector is but even my basement detector is reading higher than normal. My norm for down here is 10 to 13cpm, but the last few weeks its been hitting the 20's and 30cpm's.

Have you ever tested your basement for radon? I recommend using the digital model that I have. In fact, I own two of them. Using a radon mitigation pump, I got my basement reading down from 17.5 pCi/L to 1.6 pCi/L When my basement was reading 17.5 pCi/L my main floor upstairs was reading 7 pCi/L

Here is the same unit I own two of:
