I'm in Los Angeles. Just got a cpm count of ~95 at a local beach. Suggestions?

What model geiger counter and were the readings at ground level or waist?

Tests were both at waist and ground level using an Inspector EXP with a plastic bag over the pancake probe. Neighborhood across PCH had an average of ~40 CPM. At the beginning of the beach, CPM increased to ~70. A few feet before the tide zone, the EXP probe was placed upon the sand. I only sampled for a few minutes. I averaged ~85 CPM with a peak reading at 106 CPM. I would like to go back and get some readings over 20 minutes next time I can.

100 CPM on the sand does not surprise me, if that was at waist level it would concern me but not alarm me.

Either way, I still wouldn't eat any of those fish or swim in that water. :(
