What is causing Buffalo to climb to 134 and earn an "A" ? Also, would Rochester, NY be about the same as Buffalo (74 miles to the east) or no? Thank you for taking the time to read/respond :)

Buffalo went from a 134 to a 43 in a matter of a few hours. No response to initial post, now number is back down to 43. Any info regarding safety/distance from high CPM cities? Thanks for reading/responding.

Beta sites use filters to gather particulate matter so sometimes this material builds up and causes a high reading.

When they change the filters out it returns to a lower number but will over time will "spring back up" as the filters accumulate these particles.

Right now (my opinion only) pollen is increasing and thus increasing the reads... Pollen can be naturally radioactive and will also redistribute man made radiation taken up by the plant in years past.

Here's a quick read on a cedar pollen study done around Fuku...

So when you see a large (quick) drop from a Beta station you can assume they changed out the filter(s) for further testing...

I would also like to point out that the magnets (in the fan motor) when stressed (turning faster or slower than designed) can cause orphan rads to be observed...

...accurate or not?
