Look, it is hurricane Sandy!

I remember watching that wind map as the winds from Sandy blew to my house in Illinois over the next day or so. When the winds reached my area, my InspectorEXP inside the house showed a rise in background average. I believe this increase in background radiation levels were due to all the East Coast nuclear plants that had an EMERGENCY shutdown due to Sandy.

I only wish that I had an outside radiation monitoring station setup like I do now which recently caught these trends/patterns matching the Seattle WA EPA site:

We all need more stations to compare data with. For less than $100 you can setup a radiation monitoring station. The GMC-200 geiger counter from GQ Electronics is $85 and the FREE software to host your real-time readings with the world through NETC can be found here:

BUMP

I know this post is old (2013) but I was searching for the wind map screen shot from above but now I see the link is dead. Before the link goes dead on the Seattle WA vs. South Beloit IL NETC .jpg I saved it and am posting it here to be saved on the NETC server.

Side note, the GMC-200 geiger counters that are listed at $85 in the 2013 post above are now actually only $65 and can be found here: http://www.gqelectronicsllc.com/comersus/store/comersus_dynamicIndex.asp
