Today I have seen some unusually high counts from my GMC300E. I took it offline for a bit, rebooted it and the PC software, and walked about outside to see if there was any difference in the readings. I'm getting 100 to 200cpm indoors, 190 to 250 outside, but no hot spots were found. Nothing happened locally except for a storm front passed through and left some snow.

The meter is online again.

Did I read your post correctly, you walked around inside and outside your house with only the GMC-300E and the geiger counter display screen read those CPM?

Yes, just walking around with the detector in my hand. No air filters, no ground contact.

The readings have come down a bit now. It could have had something to do with this:

Or there could be enough hot dust that the air blows hot zones around.
It's kind of baffling.

Have your readings returned to normal today?

I really wish you had a 2nd geiger counter to confirm the readings with.

That would be nice, a calibration source would be nice too...
extra cash would be really nice, and all the other problems would then be easy...
