Tackling the looming menace of climate change won’t be easy, but we know exactly what we need to do. We need to move away from the most carbon-intensive human activities – as quickly as possible. And each of us doing our part, while critical, isn’t enough. We need strong public policies in place to encourage a rapid transition, to push our biggest polluters to change.

Yes, recycling matters. Biking and walking matter. Eating locally and lower on the food chain matters. But you know what really matters? Burning less coal. It's especially a big issue in Utah, where our utility, Rocky Mountain Power, is the West's biggest carbon pollunter.

And that’s why all of us this week need to tell the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency – loud and clear – that we support their first-ever proposed rules limiting carbon pollution from new coal- and natural gas- power plants. Making electricity from fossil fuels is the single biggest source of carbon pollution in not just America, but the globe. We need to stop building new coal power plants.

Are you kidding? Given the choice between new coal & gas plants vs. nuclear, new gas and coal win hands down! Are you seriously unaware of was is happening still with Fukushima? Until we have enough wind, sun & water energy sources to replace the nuclear, coal & gas power stations - we should try to stop our worst enemy to our great grandkids health, not to mention ours. Obviously this enemy is nuclear. I have not even mentioned the lost land for thousands of years thanks to nuclear waste form accidents like Fukushima. Nuclear expert Arnie Gunderson don't eat from the Pacific anymore thanks to nuclear/Fukushima and neither do I. If nuclear power continues, we will have a Fukushima type nuclear accident in the U.S. because history repeats itself. Isn't it clear yet that we cannot control nuclear, it clearly controls us.

Are you seriously unaware of the ongoing problems at the WIPP in New Mexico or even what's going on in Hanford Washington at that waste site? These nuclear problems will only get worse, not better. Until you shutdown the current nuclear plants to reduce our risks of new meltdowns/accidents not to mention the daily tritium steam releases caused from them, attacking coal & gas plants are a misappropriated attack using your donors funds. If you disagree, I would seriously question who your donors really are.
