Hello, I'm in the middle of building up my system and its been online now for almost a month. Been enjoying this new field of monitoring and contributing to the network. Have a question as I build this better. I want to mount my GMC-200 outside, already started a topic elsewhere about enclosures, but not sure if I asked the question yet. On these units, probably happened already, but whats the best way to extend the cabling for these units? should I or is it ok to extend the audio data line from the unit using an extension or extend the USB adapter part using a 6 foot USB extension or a powered USB extension say 15 feet or so? will either work, has this been done by others, does it cause data issues, etc? Powering the unit is not a problem further out, just not sure on the data side length whether to use USB extension or audio line extension..... any inputs greatly appreciated. Want to get the unit outside where I'd have better reading... thank you

Ok, I'm in the basement where my monitoring shack is for various sensors. The outside is about 6 feet from my PC's and trying to see how I can get one of my GMC-200 units out there instead of down here for better readings. Just didn't know the sensitivity of the data line going to the unit and if it was possible to either extend the audio cable part or the USB part with an extension. Longest it would be is ~10 feet. Then I could mount the unit to the side of the house and enclose it from the elements... hoping others over the next few days can chime in... thanks

I heard that the audio cable will pick up noise if you extend it, so try the USB idea.

use a 10' USB extension cable. got one on the internet, but have not try it for that purpose.

I want to stress that I own many GMC-200 units and I have NOT (to date) had this problem with any of my units. In fact, I have extra units so I can easily swap them out and verify that the radiation levels are in fact happening and also that my GMC-200 units are not defective
