I just changed my air filter and moved my counter near the front door. The previous filter that was reading in the 300s had absolutely captured something. If I wanded my counter over it, it'd snap right back up to 300cpm. So, I bagged it and will see how long it takes to decay.

This morning though, after less than 12 hours, my new filter in a new location in my house was reading 642cpm on my Inspector Alert. Whoah.

I don't see any netc.com spikes at nearby locations, so I guess this is just local. Highest reading I've ever gotten in my house, though.

My setup continues to read 400-550cpm since my last post, and my last filter continues to read in the 300s with no air moving through it. Does anyone know of a lab I can send these to, to identify what radionuclides I am detecting? I have made multiple requests for a quote for the Polimaster PM1401K to help out, but haven't gotten a response. Seeing the spikes recently in San Jose seems to indicate a potential broader exposure as that's just 18 miles south.

Taken this morning, my setup is showing a continued increase. No idea what's going on here, but 672 cpm from particles captured in an air filter is.. Worrisome. I don't see any more EPA sites up in the area. The ones to the north show no discernible increase in background, but Fresno far to the south of Fremont is showing a really similar increase at the same time frame I've been posting these messages: http://netc.com/chart/view.php?n=5%3A920. The beta network matches even more closely. Could this be a local release from Berkeley or Vallecitos? Really wish I could identify these isotopes to narrow down their origin.

We're getting blasted over here.

The spikes seem to directly correlate with wind coming from the southwest at http://windmapper.com/forecast/Fremont%2C_CA from the general direction of Stanford college, Sunnyvale, Mountain View, etc. That San Jose is not showing spikes as large is interesting.

Update: I have sent the above info to the EPA radnet ticketing system. Not sure if you can see it. http://radiation.supportportal.com/ics/ ... _id=563301

Assigned to Angela Shogren. Will update when/if I hear back.

central ohio - we had a westerly wind, heavy rain. My average readings prior 10/06/2014 were 36 CPM Average with 62 CPM Maximum. Heavy storms came through 10/06 from the west. Readings on 10/06 and 10/07 : 46 CPM Average, 84CPM Maximum. I use Mizur 9000 and have been monitoring 24x7 since the beginning of 2014. THese are the hightest reading since I started monitoring. More rain forecast for today.

We have responded to your inquiry.

Thank you for contacting the Radiation Protection Division.

Historical data over the past 8 years at San Francisco, San Jose, and Fresno indicate a similar trend of increasing beta results beginning in the fall. This typically peaks in December and January. I'm sorry that I do not have any additional information to provide, however I can confirm that the readings that you are collecting are consistent with seasonal trends.

I hope that you find this information helpful.

Radiation Protection Division

As you can tell from the picture I now need to change the battery in my counter, it sees 24/7 uptime on that filter. Hit 720cpm just this afternoon 2 hours and some change ago. On December 2nd 2013, the highest reading for beta at the Fresno station in the last 4 years was 946cpm. Wonder if I'll end up seeing that.

Morellio,

I don't know if this is related but on Oct. 4 my averages were about 12% higher.
Today they're 20% higher and I had a spike at 105cpm/0.03 mR/hr. last night at about 6:00pm which is high for my location. I've had high readings since last Saturday. I first thought the high cpm was related to the Santa Ana winds last weekend but today the readings are higher and there is no wind from the north/east (Nevada, Utah, Colorado).
I also noticed high readings in the Pacific Northwest, Idaho, Arizona and New Mexico.

Take care

Taken about an hour ago, showing 823 cpm today. Very interested in determining what isotopes are so energetic. Seems like I am close to getting a quote from Polimaster for a PM1401K-3, called them and got a new e-mail address to request a quote from.

Finally a morning before heading to work with a drop in CPM. Was 400-600 this AM. I'll update if I see another spike, hopefully it starts trending down and I'm reading residuals left in the filter at the moment.

Naaah...
....it's not solar it's the dust in your filter...

We are all (I live on the east coast) Fukued with the fallout and other (wipp) releases that have occurred recently. Sucks as we all know what this means to the children (and their children) and our food and (most importantly) our water supply.

Drink up and enjoy sheeple...

No one is even looking at this thing. I mention FUKU to people all the time and get the same ole brain dead stare. Too much jello and football in there i guess...

Sucks don't it...
