All the EPA sites seem to have gone offline around 8:00 PM today. Just in time for the holiday! Happy July 4th to all USA members

The EPA shutdown much of their RadNet monitoring stations back in 2011 when the first Fukushima plume past over the United States.
Recently I understand the EPA has shutdown their beta monitoring stations, possibly soon their gamma stations too.
If you do not already have a station of your own setup (I've explained how for years now for less than $100) your only choice is relying on independent private stations like mine.

The EPA gamma sites are still up, and the few near my area do not show any unusual rise in data. it still remains unanswered why they are no longer on the NETC Chart members map, since July 13. It may be possible that the EPA changed their query tool (assuming that's how NETC obtains the EPA data), or that there is something wrong with the NETC retrieval. The Beta sites being offline seems correct, though, as I got a timeout on the query tool.

I checked EPA's query tool some more, and it is returning data for all the Gamma energy bands, but values for Beta are zero, indicating that data is not available. The west coast Gamma measurements are provided up to a half hour ago (for those that are online), and show the following: Washington (2 sites) - no significant changes over the past 2 weeks. Oregon (2 sites) - same Eureka CA - same San Francisco - (offline since July 4) San Jose - (offline since July 4) Los Angeles - no significant changes Anaheim - same San Diego - same
I see now NETC is again showing the Gamma graphs, with no lost data. That's good news.

Here is the EPA's explanation for shutting down the Beta near-real time data ( https://radiation.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/articles/218062627-Did-EPA-stop-monitoring-for-beta-particles-): Quote: Did EPA stop monitoring for beta particles? No. EPA has not discontinued monitoring of any type of radioactive particle. EPA maintains a routine sample and analysis program for beta particles for each RadNet monitor location. You can download the beta particle results from the laboratory at: http://ofmpub.epa.gov/enviro/erams_quer ... mple_queryIn the past, EPA attempted to supplement this laboratory analysis by adding near real time beta detectors to the RadNet monitors. EPA has discontinued this because the detectors were not able to confirm or rule-out the presence of beta emitters, did not provide identification or quantification of specific nuclides, were subject to various interferences, and did not provide actionable information to EPA scientists.

Thanks for pointing this out. I know that each month the programmer has to go in an update a redirect or something like that. It's something the EPA changes each month and NETC has to make changes to follow their data again. I'll try to call Harlan right now and let him know so he can contact the programmer about it.

They're back again. Thanks, Harlan for updating NETC.

Netc fixed that problem a year ago. It is the EPA not sending Radnet data. Blame the government again. Harlan
